Shipping & payment
One flat courier rate across the EU, set by parcel weight, packaging built around the blade, and a checkout that never shows us your card details.
1.Where we ship
We deliver to all 27 European Union member states, to the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. The destinations available for delivery are confirmed at the checkout stage, if a country does not appear there, we cannot currently ship to it.
For Spain and Portugal the rates below cover the mainland; the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores and Ceuta are outside our current service.
Kitchen knives are ordinary household goods and ship normally. Some countries restrict the sale of bladed items to adults; by placing an order you confirm that you are of legal age in your country of residence.
2.Cost
Every parcel goes by tracked courier to your door. The price depends only on where it goes and how much it weighs: one flat rate for the whole European Union, with no separate handling or packaging fee. The rates below are the whole amount.
In practice the weight brackets read like this: up to 1 kg is a single knife or a mug, 1-3 kg a knife set or a cutting board on its own, and over 3 kg anything that ships a board together with knives.
| Destination | up to 1 kg | 1-3 kg | over 3 kg |
|---|---|---|---|
| European Union (except Poland, Cyprus and Malta) | 10.00 € | 15.00 € | 20.00 € |
| Poland (courier or parcel locker) | free | free | free |
| United Kingdom, Canada, Cyprus, Malta | 20.00 € | 30.00 € | 30.00 € |
| United States (free from 199 €) | 49.00 € | 49.00 € | 49.00 € |
Outside Poland, delivery is courier-only. We stopped offering parcel lockers abroad: the saving was small, and a knife parcel left in a locker for days is not how we want it to arrive.
The exact amount is always shown at checkout before you confirm payment.
3.Dispatch & delivery times
Every blade is checked and packed by hand once payment has settled. Orders placed at weekends or on public holidays are handled on the next working day. The estimates below already account for that preparation time.
| Destination | Estimated time |
|---|---|
| European Union | around 7 days |
| Outside the EU | up to 2 weeks |
These figures include the time needed to prepare and dispatch the parcel. They are estimates rather than guarantees: customs checks outside the EU and seasonal peaks can extend them.
The European Union figure covers the destinations listed in the cost table above.
4.Packaging
Every blade is secured so the edge cannot move against anything during transit, and boxed in packaging made from recycled materials. Knives ordered as gifts arrive presentation-ready: there is no separate gift-wrapping option because we do not think a knife of this kind should arrive any other way.
5.Tracking
You will receive an order confirmation by email as soon as payment is settled, and a second message with a tracking number once the parcel is handed to the carrier. If either message seems to be missing, check your spam folder first: automated confirmations are filtered more often than people expect.
6.Payment methods
Payment is processed by Shopify's secure checkout. The following methods are available:
- Payment cards: Visa, Mastercard and other major card networks.
- PayPal, including PayPal Buyer Protection.
- BLIK, for customers with a Polish bank account.
- Shop Pay: accelerated checkout for returning customers.
Kyōrai never sees, handles or stores your card details. They are captured directly by the payment provider on an encrypted connection, which is why payment always happens on the checkout page rather than on this site.
Your order is confirmed once payment is authorised. If a payment is declined, no order is created and no funds are taken: simply try again or choose a different method.
7.Prices & currency
All prices are shown in euro (EUR) and are the total amount payable for the goods. Nothing is added at the end of checkout except delivery, and that is shown to you before you confirm the order.
If your card is denominated in another currency, your bank will convert the amount at its own rate and may add a conversion fee: that charge comes from your bank, not from us.
8.Customs outside the EU
Orders shipped outside the European Union may attract import duty, local VAT or a customs handling fee on arrival. These are set by the destination country and are the recipient's responsibility. We have no way to calculate or absorb them in advance.
9.Problems with a delivery
If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, photograph the packaging before opening it where you can: it makes any carrier claim far simpler. If a parcel is delayed well beyond the estimate, or tracking has not updated for several days, contact us through the contact page with your order number and we will chase the carrier.
Damage in transit is covered. See Returns & complaints for how that works, and the Terms of Sale for the full legal position.
